Akvola: How to increase the capacity and reliability of your DAF plant

Share article:

From an operator point of view achieving an optimal and constant removal efficiency in DAF plants can be challenging. Unlike in MicroGas™-powered plants, getting the optimal bubble bed formation in DAF plants requires adjusting operational parameters like air pressure and recycle rate. Additionally, these parameters need to be re-adjusted if the feed water temperature or salinity changes, as is the case in many applications.

By retrofitting your DAF plant with our MicroGas™ Microbubble Generator you can get a stable removal efficiency (regardless of water temperature and salinity) and increase its capacity up to 30% – with minimal intervention and payback times below two years.

The MicroGas™ Microbubble Generators are based on our Direct Bubble Technology – white water is generated without dissolving gas into water and hence no recycle stream is required. For this reason, MicroGas™-powered flotation plants require a minimal amount of components to work and are extremely easy to operate. Additionally, our technology uses a fraction of the energy of conventional microbubble generating processes.

Regardless if you just want to cut costs or if you want to avoid operational problems, the retrofit of your current DAF system with MicroGas™ can lead to enormous benefits.

Benefits of Retrofit

Increased Treatment Capacity
Since MicroGas™ doesn’t need a recirculation stream, the retrofit frees up hydraulic capacity that results in an overall capacity increase of the system.

Higher Reliability
Through the elimination of the most critical components in a typical flotation system (e.g. pump, nozzles, piping), the risk of down times is reduced.

Lowest Operating Costs & Fast Payback Time
Through minimized chemical dosage – unlike DAF, the quality of the bubble bed generated by MicroGas™ is constant and not affected by changing feed water qualitiy or temperature.

Additionally, our units are the bubble generators with the lowest energy consumption on the market.
