Chrysa: “Innovative solutions are more critical than ever”

Chrysa Kostopoulou participated in the European Junior Water Programme (EJWP) via the European IMERMAID project. This project aims to prevent, monitor and remediate chemical pollution in the Mediterranean Sea basin. Chrysa is concerned about the growing pressure on water resources caused by climate change and human activities. “Addressing these issues through sustainable management and innovative solutions are more critical than ever.”
What is your current work position?
“I am currently working as a communication officer at APCL Company, based in Cyprus. APCL’s vision is to improve the life of every citizen in the EU and in the world, through high tech applications.”
Can you describe one of your work days?
“A typical day for me involves a mix of design and plenty of writing! I begin by reviewing our project’s social media to stay updated on any new developments. Next, I go through my pending tasks and dive into creating graphics and writing articles about the project’s latest news. Additionally, I collaborate and communicate with our partners to keep everything on track.”
What do you consider the most interesting part of your job?
“The most interesting part of my job is the opportunity to collaborate with a variety of people and stay informed about the latest innovations. I also find it fascinating to explore and develop my creativity in the process.”
What is a topic that you see as increasingly important in the water sector?
“One topic I see as increasingly important in the water sector is the growing pressure on water resources caused by climate change and human activities. Changes such as pollution, and overuse of water are creating significant challenges for ensuring water availability, quality, and resilience. Addressing these issues through sustainable management and innovative solutions is becoming more critical than ever.”
What do you expect from international cooperation?
“Through international collaboration, I look forward to work on meaningful partnerships and exchange knowledge. This kind of teamwork is essential for utilizing varied expertise, and developing innovative solutions to address global water issues.”
Why are you joining EJWP?
“I became part of the EJWP because it was a great opportunity to connect with other young experts in the sector. Also, it was a great opportunity to stay informed and learn more about the latest issues.”
What and where did you study?
“I have studied Philology – Linguistic at the University of Patras, Greece. Also, I have a Master Degree on Digital Innovation and Management.”
